Kozhikode, 16 August (H.S.):The investigating officer leading the probe into the Vadakara MDMA case, in which three teachers have been arrested, has been transferred at a time when the investigation has entered a crucial stage.
Vadakara Circle Inspector A.V. Dinesh, who was overseeing the investigation, has been transferred to Kannur Circle. Preliminary information suggests that the transfer was part of routine administrative procedures and was not connected with the case.
The transfer has, however, attracted attention as the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is currently examining financial transactions and digital evidence linked to the accused. The police are attempting to collect all available electronic records to establish the full extent of the alleged drug network and identify others who may have been involved.
The three arrested teachers - Keerthana, Kavya and Neeshma - are accused in the MDMA case registered in Vadakara. The SIT is conducting a detailed examination of their bank accounts, mobile phone records and other digital data.
Investigators are seeking to trace the flow of money connected with the alleged narcotics transactions. As part of this effort, the police have identified locations where cash was withdrawn using the ATM cards of the accused.
CCTV footage from the areas surrounding these ATMs has also been collected. The recordings are expected to help investigators identify the persons who withdrew the money and determine whether any individuals other than the accused operated their bank accounts or cards.
The phone records of the teachers are being analysed to identify their contacts and reconstruct their movements and communications during the period under investigation. The financial and digital evidence could also reveal the source of the MDMA and its intended recipients.
The SIT is expected to continue the investigation despite the transfer of the Circle Inspector. Further action will be taken after the examination of the bank records, phone data and CCTV footage is completed.
