New Delhi, 15 August (H.S.): Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Saturday described Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day as a landmark speech, saying it was imbued with the resolve for indigenous development, prosperity and self-reliance. He said the address would prove to be a milestone in India’s journey towards becoming a leading nation across all sectors.

In a post on social media platform X, Amit Shah said the Prime Minister, while addressing the nation on Independence Day, presented a comprehensive roadmap for building a developed India guided by the principles of a “drug-free India”, “secure India” and “nation first”. He said the Prime Minister highlighted the unprecedented progress achieved over the past 12 years in sectors such as semiconductors, critical minerals, energy and railway transportation, and presented the concept of “Saptadhara” — seven powerful pillars — to take the country to new heights and make it self-reliant across sectors.

Shah said the Prime Minister had announced several significant initiatives aimed at harnessing the potential of the country’s youth. These include providing artificial intelligence training to more than one crore young people in a year, establishing a network of free online coaching platforms and launching a talent identification campaign for the 2036 Olympic Games.

He added that the Prime Minister had also set the target of increasing India’s nuclear power capacity to 100 GW by 2047 and establishing eight new semiconductor plants.

The Union Home Minister said the Prime Minister’s address was driven by the resolve for indigenous development, prosperity and self-reliance. He described it as an important milestone in India’s efforts to emerge as a leading nation in every sector.

In another post, Amit Shah described the rendition of the national song “Vande Mataram” from the ramparts of the Red Fort for the first time after 80 years as a historic moment. He said witnessing the occasion had been an immensely thrilling and proud experience for him.

Shah said the moment had given him “goosebumps” and left him extremely excited, describing the historic rendition as an emotionally stirring experience.
