New Delhi, 15 August (H.S.): On the occasion of Independence Day, Delhi Police’s Outer District unit returned around 200 lost and stolen mobile phones to their rightful owners under ‘Operation Reconnect’, bringing relief and happiness to citizens who had been reunited with their devices.

The initiative was undertaken as part of the police’s citizen-centric approach and efforts to ensure the speedy resolution of public complaints.

A programme was organised by the Outer District Police on Saturday to mark the 80th Independence Day. Deputy Commissioner of Police Vikram Singh, along with Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police-I Vishnu Kumar, unfurled the national flag in the presence of all Assistant Commissioners of Police, Station House Officers and other police personnel from the district.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner of Police urged personnel to discharge their duties with a strong sense of service, unity and commitment. He said the Outer District Police remained committed to citizen-centric policing, improving public services and maintaining a safe and peaceful environment in the national capital.

Under Operation Reconnect, police teams used technical resources and sustained investigative efforts to trace and recover mobile phones that had been reported lost or stolen. Following due verification, around 200 recovered phones were handed back to their legitimate owners.

According to the police, the recovery and return of the devices provided considerable relief to citizens and helped strengthen public confidence in the police.

The programme concluded with the distribution of sweets among police personnel in recognition of their continued dedication and hard work in the line of duty.

Police officials said such initiatives would continue in the future to help citizens recover their property and ensure the timely resolution of their grievances.
