Mumbai, 15 Aug (HS): Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra

Fadnavis said that the state government has resolved to make the state draught-free

for overall development of the state and the nation.

Fadnavis hoisted the national flag in Mumbai on the

Independence Day on Saturday and said Maharashtra is the biggest economy in the

country. The economic development during the last half year was 8.8 percent.

The government is working to make every district a ‘Growth Engine’. A total of

13 districts have already achieved the goal. Special attention is being paid to

Gadchiroli, Palghar and Nandurbar. He appealed to the people to remain

committed towards their duties to maintain the dignity of the state and the

nation.

About 56 lakh farmers in the state are befitting under

the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Debt Waiver Scheme. The loan of about 36,000

crore have been waived, and the process has already been started, 76 per cent

farmers are getting during day time. The State Government is making efforts to

supply uninterrupted power supply during day time to all the farmers for

irrigation purpose. With the river joining project the draught affected regions

of Marathwada, Vidarbha, North Maharashtra and Western Maharashtra will be

relieved of draught situation.
