

Amritsar, 15 August (H.S.): The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm, pride and patriotic spirit at the Attari-Wagah border in Amritsar. A special programme was organised by the Border Security Force (BSF), with BSF DIG S.S. Chandel attending as the chief guest. The event witnessed high enthusiasm among the officers and personnel deployed along the border.
Extending his warm Independence Day greetings to the people, DIG S.S. Chandel said BSF personnel remain stationed at the borders day and night with dedication and commitment to ensure the security of the nation. He said protecting the country’s borders is a matter of pride for the BSF and its personnel remain prepared to face every challenge.
Highlighting the role of the BSF along the border, Chandel said the force has effectively countered hostile activities. He said BSF personnel have intercepted drones and seized large quantities of narcotics and weapons during their operations.
On the occasion, two BSF personnel who were promoted from the rank of Sub-Inspector to Inspector were honoured. The DIG said the recognition was a tribute to their hard work, dedication and service to the nation.
The celebrations also included a special gesture of patriotism as DIG S.S. Chandel distributed laddoos among BSF personnel. Slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” reverberated across the border, creating an atmosphere filled with national pride.
Cultural programmes were also presented during the celebrations and were enjoyed by those present. DIG Chandel also extended his greetings to the people on the completion of 150 years of the national song.
