Guwahati, 15 August (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday extended his warm greetings and best wishes to the people of the country on the occasion of Independence Day.

In a social media post, Dr Sarma paid his deepest respects to all the brave freedom fighters who made the supreme sacrifice for the country’s independence.

He said the Independence Day strengthens the nation’s commitment to democratic values, national unity and the resolve to build a developed India.

The Chief Minister said that, inspired by the nation’s glorious heritage and under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the people would continue to work together towards achieving the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and advancing Assam’s journey of comprehensive development.

He concluded his message with “Jai Hind”.------------
