New Delhi, 14 August (H.S.): Purani Dilli 6 produced a remarkable display of resilience to defeat North Delhi Strikers by four wickets in a thrilling Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 encounter late Thursday night. Chasing a challenging target of 187, Purani Dilli 6 held their nerve to complete the chase in the final over and seal a memorable victory.

Batting first, North Delhi Strikers posted 186 for six in their allotted 20 overs, powered by impressive half-centuries from captain Sarthak Ranjan and Yash Bhatia. The team made a steady start, with Ranjan and Vaibhav Kandpal putting together 45 runs for the opening wicket. Kandpal was dismissed for 14 off 11 balls, bringing Bhatia to the crease.

Ranjan and Bhatia then steadied the innings with a 61-run partnership for the second wicket. Ranjan continued his fine form, scoring 59 off 37 balls, while Bhatia also struck 59 from 41 deliveries. Yash Dhull added valuable late impetus with a brisk 36 off 22 balls, helping North Delhi Strikers finish on 186 for six.

Chasing 187, Purani Dilli 6 endured a disastrous start and were reduced to 53 for four, leaving them in serious trouble. However, Ashwini Chillar and Lalit Yadav staged a remarkable recovery.

The pair completely turned the momentum of the match with a superb 105-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Lalit Yadav played a crucial knock of 64 off 41 balls. Even after his dismissal, Chillar continued to keep Purani Dilli 6 in contention.

Pankaj Jaswal seals dramatic win in final over

Rohan Rathi joined Chillar at the crease, and the duo reduced the target to just seven runs from the final over. Chillar, however, was dismissed for a fighting 45 off 36 balls, setting up a tense finish.

With the pressure mounting, Pankaj Jaswal produced a stunning finish. He smashed a six off the very first ball he faced and followed it with another boundary over the ropes on the next delivery, completing a dramatic victory for Purani Dilli 6.

Purani Dilli 6 had thus recovered from a precarious 53 for four to chase down 187, snatching victory from North Delhi Strikers in a thrilling last-over finish.
