Hooghly, 14 August (H.S.): West Bengal Minister of State for Public Health Engineering (PHE) and Labour, Bhaskar Bhattacharya, on Friday took a veiled swipe at some leaders of the Trinamool Congress, alleging that they were trying to malign the state government from behind the scenes in the Serampore Assembly constituency.

In a Facebook post, Bhattacharya alleged that “some TMC leaders” were acting like Meghnad and attempting to spread propaganda against the government in the Serampore Assembly area.

He wrote that such leaders would be brought “out from behind the clouds” and warned that they should not mistake his politeness for weakness.

“Those who make the mistake of considering my politeness a weakness will face consequences. Action will be taken very soon. Beware,” the minister said in his post.

Bhattacharya, however, did not name any individual leader or specify the nature of the alleged campaign against the government.

The minister’s strongly worded post has triggered speculation within political circles in Serampore, particularly over whom he was referring to by his remarks about leaders allegedly working from “behind the clouds”.

The warning comes amid growing political activity in the Serampore Assembly constituency, with Bhattacharya indicating that action could be taken against those allegedly involved in spreading misinformation or criticism against the government.
