Lucknow, 13 Aug (HS): An important

initiative has been taken to make the youth of Uttar Pradesh skilled as per the

modern requirements of the industries and to provide them better opportunities

for employment and apprenticeship. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was

signed on Thursday between the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission (UPSDM)

and the Indian Industries Association (IIA). Principal Secretary Dr. Hariom,

Mission Director of Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission Pulkit Khare, Joint

Director Mayank Gangwar were present on this occasion.

The primary objective of this

agreement is to strengthen industry-institute linkages, expand apprenticeship

and placement opportunities, provide industry exposure, and improve trainees'

employability. This will provide practical and employment-oriented training to

youth by linking the training system to the actual needs of industries. Under

the MoU, IIA regional chapter heads will be linked to District Program

Management Units (DPMUs) operating in districts.

Mission Director Pulkit Khare

stated that to make the training more practical and industry-relevant,

industries will provide the necessary raw materials to UPSDM training centers.

Trainees will gain hands-on experience in real-world industrial work under the

supervision of industry experts. Entrepreneurs and technical experts associated

with IIA will provide guest lectures, mentorship, and technical guidance at

UPSDM's training centers. Trainees will also be educated on soft skills,

workplace behavior, and changing technological needs in the industry.

IIA portal, job fairs and

apprenticeship fairs will increase opportunities: IIA's online portal

iiaonline.in, will be used to connect trainees with employment. In addition,

job fairs, apprenticeship fairs, industrial visits, and industry exposure

programs will be organized regularly. This initiative will be implemented in

the first phase in Lucknow, Barabanki, Muzaffarnagar, Moradabad, Amethi,

Varanasi, the NCR region, and Bareilly. Based on successful implementation,

there are plans to expand this model to all 75 districts of the state.

This is a three-year, non-financial

partnership between UPSDM and IIA. A Joint Coordination Committee has been

formed to effectively implement the MoU and review progress. The committee will

assess program progress, training quality, apprenticeships, placements, and

other outcomes quarterly.
