Jammu, 13 August (H.S.): On the occasion of Sanskrit Month, Shri Kailakh Jyotish Avim Vedic Sansthan Trust, Jammu & Kashmir, organized a grand Sanskrit Shobha Yatra and anti-drug awareness rally in Udhampur.

A large number of students, Sanskrit enthusiasts, scholars, social workers and prominent citizens participated enthusiastically in the Shobha Yatra, conveying the message of preserving the glory of Sanskrit and building a drug-free society.

The Shobha Yatra commenced from Women's College, Udhampur. It passed through various routes and culminated at D Pine Tree Banquet Hall, Khallar, Udhampur. Carrying placards and banners bearing messages related to Sanskrit and drug de-addiction, the participants appealed to society to move towards a positive and healthy future.

MLA Udhampur Pawan Gupta attended the event as the chief guest. Udhampur Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa and DIG Shiv Kumar Sharma were present as guests of honour.

On the occasion, Mahant Rohit Shastri, President of Shri Kailakh Jyotish & Vedic Sansthan Trust. said that Sanskrit is not merely an ancient language but the foundation of India's rich culture, knowledge, philosophy, traditions and values.

MLA Pawan Gupta said that preservation and promotion of Sanskrit is not the responsibility of scholars alone, but a duty shared by every section of society.

Udhampur Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa said that along with creating awareness among youth about the harmful effects of drugs, there is an urgent need to engage them in positive and constructive activities.

DIG Shiv Kumar Sharma said that drug abuse is a serious challenge for society and that, along with the efforts of the police and administration, active participation of the general public is equally essential.
