New Delhi, 13 August (H.S.): On the death anniversary of Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar, Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra paid tribute to the revered ruler at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state office on Thursday. The programme was chaired by BJP OBC Morcha president Santosh Pal.

Malhotra highlighted Ahilyabai Holkar’s exemplary governance, dedication to public welfare, commitment to preserving Indian culture and outstanding contribution to the restoration and reconstruction of historic temples across the country.

Addressing the gathering, Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra paid his respects to Ahilyabai Holkar and said that the BJP family would resolve to build a developed India by following her core values of “service, good governance and culture.”

Malhotra said Ahilyabai Holkar was not merely a ruler but a “living embodiment of public service.” He said that in the 18th century, she established an exemplary model of women’s leadership that continues to inspire people across the world. For her, he said, the duties of governance were a form of service, while serving the people was akin to worship.

The Delhi BJP president said the legacy of good governance established by Ahilyabai Holkar from the land of Malwa continues to inspire generations. He noted that she contributed to the restoration of temples across India, from Kashi Vishwanath to Somnath. He also highlighted her efforts to construct roads, wells, rest houses and community kitchens, reflecting her belief that public resources should be used for the welfare of the people.

He said Ahilyabai Holkar demonstrated a model of just governance for nearly three decades, free from discrimination and corruption.

Malhotra also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has repeatedly acknowledged Ahilyabai Holkar’s ideals of good governance and women’s empowerment.

On the occasion, several BJP leaders and workers, including Vishnu Mittal, Yogita Singh, Mohanlal Gihara, Satish Garg, Praveen Shankar Kapoor, Ramkhiladi Yadav, Shubhendu Shekhar Awasthi, Kailash Jain, Yasir Jilani, Nitin Tyagi, Suman Saini, Ramnaresh Pal, Vishal Prajapati, Mohit Nagar and Amar Baghel, also paid floral tributes to Ahilyabai Holkar.
