Inter-state drugs racket busted in Nagpur, 4 from Nagpur involved


Nagpur, 11 Aug

(HS): A major drug raclet operated by a

notorious criminal from Nagpur was busted near Hyderabad in Telangana. A total

of 27 kg mephedrone (MD) was seized by the police along with 40 kg of acetone

which is used in narcotic drugs manufacturing.

The MD was being

manufactured in a laboratory in Kondamadugu in Telangana and was then taken to

Nagpur and distributed in other areas of the Vidarbha region. Police booked

four accused in this connection. They were identified as Chetan Madhukar Meshram

(49), Akash Ashok Gawande (31), both from Nagpur; Muvjamal Hoque (25) of

Morigaon, Assam and Upadrasthra Raman Muthy (65) of Chanda Nagar, Hyderabad.

Meshram and

Gawande have been arrested, while two others Gopal Sirpat Patelia and Chanda

Pradeep Thakur, both from Nagpur and involved in the racket are absconding.

Bijlinagar

Police and the Special Operations Team of Yadadri-Bhuvanagari district carried

out the operation on Sunday. Based on information about transportation of

drugs, police inytercepted an SUV near Kondamadugu and seized 27 kg of

mephedrone and 40 kg of Acetone froim the vehicle. During interrogation the

accused told that the drug was manufactured in Vetukuri Labs in Kondamadugu

between August 5 and 7.

Police also

searched the lab and seized machinery and some other equipment used in manufacturing

the drug. According to Police Meshram was organiser and financer of the racket.

His old record confirm that he was involved in several criminal activities in

the past.

Further

investigation has been initiated.
