Jorhat (Assam), 11 August (HS): Amid the devastating floods in Assam, a young karate player from the flood-affected Teok constituency has brought a moment of pride and positivity by winning a gold medal at the National Karate Championship held in New Delhi.

Janmoni Konwar, a promising athlete from Majiyabheta area of Alengmora under Teok constituency, represented Assam at the national-level championship and clinched the gold medal despite facing severe hardships caused by the floods.

Janmoni’s achievement is particularly inspiring as her family lost everything in the devastating floods and is currently living under a tent on an embankment. Despite the difficult circumstances, Janmoni remained determined and competed with confidence to secure the top honour.

Teok MLA Bikash Saikia visited Janmoni and congratulated her on the achievement. He praised her hard work, determination and fighting spirit and assured her of all possible support to help her pursue her sporting career in the days ahead.--------
