Silchar (Assam), 11 August (HS): Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Customs Department, Cachar, conducted a joint operation at Latigram near Srikona in Cachar district and seized contraband worth approximately ₹1.17 crore.

According to the official information on Tuesday the operation led to the recovery of 4.5 lakh cigarette sticks and 500 kg of poppy seeds. A container vehicle and two mobile phones were also seized, while two individuals were apprehended.

The seized items and apprehended individuals were handed over to the Customs Department, Cachar, for further legal action.----------
