Silchar (Assam), 10 August (HS): Police in Silchar have arrested two persons in connection with an alleged cash-for-job scam involving recruitment in the Indian Railways.

The accused have been identified as Abhijit Dey (44), who allegedly posed as the president of the Salchapra Warehouse Division and his associate Debatosh Bhattacharya (52).

According to police, the duo allegedly collected advance payments of ₹35,000 to ₹40,000 from several job seekers by promising them railway jobs. The alleged scam came to light during a health check-up and awareness camp for railway warehouse workers at a marriage hall in Tarapur, Silchar.

Preliminary investigation has reportedly identified Dhan Kumar Deka of Noonmati, Guwahati, as the alleged mastermind. Police have launched a search to trace and arrest him.---------
