
Tamulpur (Assam), 10 August (HS): A meeting of the Tamulpur District Development Committee was held on Monday to review the progress of various development schemes and departmental activities in the district.
The meeting, chaired by BTC Secretary Anshula Basumatary, reviewed works under health, agriculture, education, irrigation, water resources, handloom and textiles, transport, livestock and other departments. Emphasis was laid on completing pending works within the stipulated time.
The meeting also discussed the progress of the under-construction Tamulpur Medical College and Circuit House, promotion of dragon fruit and eri farming and measures to address the shortage of veterinary doctors. Officials also discussed using birina plantation as a nature-based measure to prevent riverbank erosion in vulnerable areas.------------
