More than 1.03 lakh students and citizens across the country have participated in Youth Parliament programmes through the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs’ upgraded National Youth Parliament Scheme (NYPS) 2.0 web portal as of July 21, 2026.

Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Dr L. Murugan provided the information in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on Monday. He said the Ministry launched NYPS 2.0 on September 11, 2024, expanding access to the programme beyond the recognised institutions covered under the earlier portal.

Unlike the previous platform, which primarily enabled students from recognised institutions to participate, NYPS 2.0 has been opened to educational institutions, groups and individual citizens across the country.

Between September 11, 2024 and July 21, 2026, the institutional category recorded 4,939 registrations. A total of 1,611 Youth Parliament programmes were conducted under this category, involving 54,518 students.

Under the group category, 732 registrations were recorded and 26 programmes were organised, attracting the participation of 982 citizens and students. The individual category accounted for participation by 48,291 citizens and students.

Dr Murugan said the Ministry has taken several measures to expand the reach of the Youth Parliament Scheme. Letters have been sent to all state governments and Union Territory administrations, as well as state and Union Territory legislatures and various educational boards, including the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE).

He added that promotional videos and tutorial content highlighting the scheme are also broadcast periodically on Sansad TV to familiarise potential participants with the programme.

The Minister further said that details of 42 Consultative Committees associated with various ministries are available on the Ministry’s Consultative Committee Management System (CCMS) portal.

The CCMS portal has also been digitally upgraded from time to time to meet the evolving requirements of stakeholders and improve access to information relating to parliamentary consultative committees.

The expansion of NYPS 2.0 is aimed at providing wider opportunities for students and citizens to understand parliamentary procedures, democratic institutions and the functioning of legislative bodies through practical participation in Youth Parliament activities.
