New Delhi, 10 August (H.S.):

India has strongly condemned an incident in which the Indian Embassy premises in Ljubljana, Slovenia, were allegedly targeted by pro-Khalistan supporters, and called on law enforcement authorities to remain vigilant against hateful propaganda and misinformation circulated by such groups.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said diplomatic premises are inviolable under the Vienna Convention and their protection is an obligation of the host country.

The ministry said India has firmly raised the matter with Slovenian authorities both in New Delhi and Ljubljana, with the objective of ensuring that those responsible for the “reprehensible acts” are held accountable.

India also urged law enforcement agencies in other locations to take note of the hateful propaganda and misinformation being spread by such groups.

The MEA reiterated that the safety and security of diplomatic missions must be ensured in accordance with international obligations and called for appropriate action against those responsible for targeting the Indian diplomatic premises.
