Kolkata, 10 August (H.S.): West Bengal joined the Centre’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign for the first time, with Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari leading a Tiranga Yatra through the streets of Kolkata on Monday.

The march began from Gour Pal Sarani and proceeded towards the North Gate of the Victoria Memorial. Carrying the national flag, Adhikari led the procession, accompanied by BJP leaders and state ministers, including Dilip Ghosh, Arjun Singh, Jagannath Chattopadhyay and Deepak Barman.

Panihati BJP MLA Ratna Debnath, MLA Rudranil Ghosh, Kaustav Bagchi and several other senior BJP leaders also participated in the procession. Thousands of people joined the campaign, carrying the Tricolour.

A banner carrying the message “Tiranga in Every Home” was placed at the front of the procession.

The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign has been organised by the NDA government for the past several years as part of the Independence Day celebrations. According to the state government, West Bengal is participating in the campaign at the state level for the first time this year.

The campaign will continue across the state from August 9 to 17. Adhikari had earlier launched the initiative from his constituency, Bhabanipur, and appealed to people across West Bengal to hoist the national flag at their homes and participate in the campaign.

The state government is distributing around 70 lakh Tricolours across West Bengal as part of the initiative.
