New Delhi, 10 August (H.S.): Global markets are sending positive signals on Monday, with Asian equities also maintaining a broadly upbeat trend. US markets closed higher in the previous session, although Dow Jones futures were trading marginally lower. European markets also remained supported by sustained buying in the previous session, while buyers appeared to be in control across most Asian markets.

Revised hiring data in the United States helped accelerate Wall Street’s momentum during the previous session. The S&P 500 gained 0.62 per cent to close at 7,757.64 points. The Nasdaq also advanced 342.26 points, or 1.30 per cent, to end the session at 26,690.62 points. However, Dow Jones futures were currently trading 0.08 per cent lower at 53,995.13 points.

European markets also maintained a positive trend during the previous session. The FTSE index gained 0.30 per cent to close at 10,901.09 points. Similarly, the CAC index rose 0.17 per cent to end the session at 8,714.93 points. The DAX index advanced 179.32 points, or 0.68 per cent, to close at 26,319.45 points.

Asian markets were also witnessing broad-based gains on Monday. Of the nine major Asian markets, eight benchmark indices were trading in positive territory. The Straits Times Index remained unchanged as the Singapore Stock Exchange was closed for a holiday.

Gift Nifty was trading 0.06 per cent higher at 24,655.50 points. The Shanghai Composite Index also gained 0.20 per cent to reach 3,947.91 points.

The Nikkei index recorded a strong rally, climbing 1,263.29 points, or 1.93 per cent, to 66,870 points. The Taiwan Weighted Index was also witnessing substantial gains, rising 758.21 points, or 1.71 per cent, to 44,984.12 points.

Meanwhile, the SET Composite Index was trading 0.82 per cent higher at 1,625.23 points, while the KOSPI index gained 0.77 per cent to reach 6,307.23 points.

The Hang Seng Index was also trading higher, gaining 174.27 points, or 0.68 per cent, to 25,843 points. The Jakarta Composite Index advanced 0.25 per cent to trade at 6,425.59 points.
