
Mumbai, 10- Aug (HS): Maharashtra has taken initiative in
introducing battery-electrical truck of the capacity to carry 7 tonnes to 55
tonnes goods. The State Government in its first initiative with Tata Motors,
launched the portfolio in Mumbai on Monday. Maharashtra is the first state in
the country to launch electric good carrier truck in the country.
Transport
Minister Pratap Sarnaik said that the step is not only to introduce electric
vehicle, but also a step towards green revolution. Under the EV Policy manufacturers and transporters
get new opportunities in participating in the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in
India’ mission.
Sarnaik said
that the trucks are designed and manufactured by Indian engineers. The truck
will run 350 km after a single recharge. Facilities for fast charging and less
operating investment is being provided by the state government. Transporters
will save on transport cost.
