Hooghly, 10 August (H.S.): Around 20 to 25 pilgrims were injured after a bus carrying them collided with a truck in the Jayrampur area of Arambagh on Monday. Men, women and children were among those injured.

According to local sources, around 70-72 people from Balsi village under Parthsayar police station in Bankura district had travelled to Tarakeswar on Sunday morning to offer holy water at the temple. They were returning home by bus on Monday when the accident occurred.

The incident took place while the bus was travelling from Tarakeswar towards Arambagh. According to preliminary information, a truck crossed the divider and was turning when it suddenly collided with the bus.

Following the collision, around 20-25 passengers sustained injuries. Local residents immediately rescued the injured and took them to Arambagh Prafulla Chandra Sen Medical College and Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.

After receiving information about the accident, Arambagh MLA Hemant Bag visited the hospital and met the injured passengers. BJP Arambagh Municipal Mandal president Suman Tiwari, Arambagh town SC-ST Morcha president Sanjib Hela and other BJP leaders and workers were also present at the hospital. They enquired about the condition of the injured and the treatment being provided to them.
