Guwahati, 10 August (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the revival of the state government’s subsidised scheme providing dal and sugar at an affordable price of ₹100, benefiting around 70 lakh people across the state.

The scheme, launched ahead of the Assembly elections to provide sugar, dal and salt at subsidised rates, had remained suspended for three months due to delays related to the state budget. It was relaunched on August 10 at Raha in Nagaon district.

Under the revived scheme, dal and sugar will be available for ₹100. However, the supply of salt could not be resumed immediately due to technical reasons. Sarma said the government would begin providing salt within a few days.

The Chief Minister said it was a privilege to relaunch the scheme for the new term at a special programme held at the fair-price shop premises of Srisuren Patar in Kamarjan village of Raha. -------------
