Cachar (Assam), 10 August (HS): Security forces seized 8.224 kg of morphine, valued at approximately ₹13 crore, during a joint operation at Badarpur Ghat in Assam’s Cachar district on Monday.

The operation was conducted by Sreemabhum district police, Cachar district police and the 38th Assam Rifles based on specific intelligence inputs. During the operation, security personnel intercepted a vehicle and discovered a concealed chamber inside its fuel tank.

A large quantity of morphine was recovered from the specially designed compartment. In connection with the seizure, police arrested Dola Raja, a resident of Panchgram.

Sreemabhum SSP Leena Doley, senior police officials from Cachar and Sreemabhum districts, and officers of the 38th Assam Rifles were present during the operation.

Police have launched an investigation to identify the suspected wider drug trafficking network behind the consignment. The arrested accused is being questioned to gather information about others allegedly involved in the trafficking operation.---------
