Kolkata, 01 August (H.S.) : West Bengal Governor R. N. Ravi has appealed to the people of the state to actively participate in the Census 2027, describing it as a vital national exercise that will provide essential demographic and household data for effective governance and development planning.

The Governor said that the information collected during the census would help governments formulate better policies, improve public administration, strengthen the delivery of public services and ensure that welfare schemes reach every section of society more efficiently.

Highlighting a key feature of the upcoming census, Ravi said that, for the first time, households will be able to submit their details through a digital self-enumeration facility. The initiative, he said, will make participation in the census simpler, faster and more convenient.

He informed that he had already completed his own self-enumeration and urged all citizens to do the same by visiting the se.census.gov.in portal. He appealed to people to provide accurate information, keep their Self-Enumeration ID safely for future reference and extend full cooperation to census officials during their scheduled household visits.

The Governor said that active public participation would contribute to better planning based on the needs of the people and support the continued development of West Bengal and the country. He also called upon citizens to contribute to the national goal of building a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047 through their participation in Census 2027.
