
Imphal, 01 August (HS): Security forces and Manipur Police have intensified their crackdown on insurgent groups, extortion networks, illegal arms and narcotics across the state. As part of the ongoing operations, two active militants belonging to different banned outfits were apprehended from separate locations in Manipur.
According to official information released by the Assam Police Headquarters on Saturday, security personnel arrested an active cadre of the banned KCP (Noyon) faction, identified as self-styled Second Lieutenant Sarangthem Rahul Singh, from the Pallel Limanai Chingjin area under Kakching Police Station in Kakching district. He is a resident of Pallel Mayai Leikai.
In another operation on the same day, Manipur Police arrested Ningthoujam Nanao Meitei alias Lanthongngangpa (41), an active cadre of the banned PREPAK (Pro) outfit, from Khurai Konsam Leikai under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East district. Police said the accused was involved in extortion activities.
Authorities stated that the anti-extortion and counter-insurgency drive will continue across the state to curb the activities of banned militant organisations.-----------
