Hyderabad, Aug 1 (HS): The Irrigation Department on Saturday issued the third danger signal at Bhadrachalam after the Godavari River touched 55 feet following heavy inflows from the upper catchment areas.

Officials said the river level rose due to continuous rainfall in the upstream regions, prompting the Revenue Department to sound the third warning at the temple town.

The bathing ghats at Parnasala have been submerged following the rise in the river level.

Road connectivity between Dummugudem and Bhadrachalam and between Bhadrachalam and Odisha has been affected due to the flood situation, officials said.

District authorities have been directed to shift people living in low-lying areas to rehabilitation centres and take all necessary precautionary measures. Residents have been advised to avoid venturing out unnecessarily and to follow instructions issued by the district administration.

Officials also appealed to the public to contact the control room in case of emergencies.
