Glasgow, 01 August (H.S.): l Indian boxers continued their impressive run at the Commonwealth Games 2026 as Preeti and Jasmine Lamboria added two more gold medals to India's tally on Saturday. Both pugilists produced dominant performances in their respective finals, securing convincing victories and showcasing their superiority in the ring.

World No. 3 Preeti defeated Canada's Scarlett Savannah Delgado 5-0 by a unanimous decision in the women's 54kg final to claim the gold medal. From the opening bell, Preeti maintained pressure on her Canadian opponent with her swift movements, accurate punches, and excellent timing. All five judges awarded her victory in each of the three rounds with identical scores of 30-27.

In the second round, Delgado was knocked down due to Preeti's continuous and precise attacks. Although the Canadian boxer attempted a comeback in the final round, Preeti remained composed, effectively used her distance, and landed clean punches to keep complete control of the bout.

Preeti delivered an outstanding performance throughout the tournament. She received a direct entry into the semifinals, where she defeated Zambia's Catherine Mwape 5-0. During that bout, she dominated her opponent by forcing three standing counts to secure her place in the final.

Meanwhile, world No. 1 Jasmine Lamboria defeated defending champion Michaela Walsh of Northern Ireland 5-0 by a unanimous decision in the women's 57kg final to win the gold medal.

The opening round witnessed a closely fought contest, with two judges favouring Walsh, while three judges gave the round to Jasmine. However, the Indian boxer made a remarkable comeback from the second round onwards, taking complete control of the fight. She impressed with accurate combination punches, earned the support of all five judges, and maintained her dominance in the third round to secure the gold medal.

Jasmine had earlier defeated Lesotho's Rapelelang Maselela in a one-sided semifinal. The referee stopped the contest in the second round after Maselela received three standing counts. Having won a bronze medal in the 60kg category at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, Jasmine made her campaign memorable this time by securing gold. After becoming the world champion in 2025, she has now added a Commonwealth Games gold medal to her achievements, further strengthening her dominance in the 57kg category.
