Indian boxer Jadumani Singh Mandengbam delivered a remarkable performance at the Commonwealth Games on Saturday, winning the silver medal in the men's 55kg boxing category. In the final bout, Jadumani faced defeat against Australia's Jai Dixon, settling for the silver medal after a hard-fought contest.

Ranked eighth in the world, Jadumani began the bout with an aggressive approach, but the taller Australian boxer Dixon gained an advantage with accurate straight jabs and effective counter-punches. The opening round remained closely contested, with Jadumani putting up a strong challenge and securing the verdict of three judges in his favour, keeping the bout highly competitive.

Dixon made a strong comeback in the second round. Displaying excellent footwork and a defensive strategy, the Australian boxer successfully neutralised Jadumani's attacks and landed a series of precise punches to gain the support of all five judges. The momentum shifted in Dixon's favour after the second round.

In the decisive third round, Jadumani adopted an attacking strategy and landed several effective right crosses and jabs. However, Dixon maintained his composure and responded with timely counter-attacks to preserve his decisive lead.

Jadumani made every effort to stage a comeback in the closing moments, but the Australian boxer held his ground and did not allow him to lose control of the contest.

In the end, Jai Dixon secured victory by winning the scorecards of all five judges to claim the gold medal, while Jadumani Singh Mandengbam completed an impressive campaign by winning the silver medal for India. The achievement marked another significant success for India in boxing at the Commonwealth Games, following gold medal victories by Preeti Pawar and Jasmine in their respective events.
