
Imphal, 01 August (HS): Security forces and Manipur Police carried out a series of operations across the state, arresting an alleged arms dealer, three militants, drug traffickers and a juvenile accused in a cybercrime case involving minor girls.
On Saturday, security forces arrested Laishram Lakpati Singh (56) from Khongman Zone-III in Imphal East district. A No. 36 hand grenade and 10 rounds of 9 mm ammunition were recovered from his possession. Police said he was allegedly involved in the illegal procurement and sale of arms, ammunition and explosives.
In another operation conducted on July 31, security forces arrested three active cadres of the KCP (MFL) from the Gamphazol village area near BP-69 under Molcham Police Station in Chandel district. The arrested militants were identified as Yumkhaibam Rojit (26), Khumanthem Bidyasagar (24) and Hemam Arun Singh (27).
Continuing the investigation into an ND&PS Act case registered at Patsoi Police Station relating to the earlier recovery of brown sugar from a Pajero vehicle, police arrested the main accused, Meraimayum Razak Ahamed (35), from his residence in Imphal East district.
In a separate anti-drug operation on Friday, Manipur Police intercepted a Ford EcoSport (AS 01DJ 6360) at Leingangpokpi checkpost under Jiribam Police Station and arrested Bhima Panika (42) of Assam's Karbi Anglong district. Police seized 5.21 kg of brown sugar from the vehicle.
Meanwhile, on July 31, police apprehended a juvenile in Bishnupur district in connection with a case involving the alleged blackmail and intimidation of minor girls by circulating morphed or fake images of victims on social media.
In another narcotics-related operation, Manipur Police arrested Shahna (27) from Kwakta Ward No. 3 and recovered two soap cases containing approximately 70 grams of suspected heroin powder concealed at her residence.
Police said further investigation is underway in all the cases.---------------
