Mirzapur, August 01 (HS): A one-day workshop was organized

by a voluntary organization on Saturday at Vijaypur, the block headquarters of

Mirzapur district in Uttar Pradesh. Sadar MLA Ratnakar Mishra inaugurated the

program by garlanding a picture of Goddess Saraswati and lighting a lamp.

At the workshop, the Sadar MLA stressed the need to raise awareness

among villagers about rainwater harvesting, saying that conserving water,

forests, and biodiversity is the most pressing need of the hour. Chhanbe MLA

Rinki Kol said that people must be prepared for market-based competition, so

that new employment and livelihood opportunities can be created.

Deputy Commissioner of MNREGA, Ramashankar Singh, said that

women in self-help groups are becoming self-reliant through cottage industries.

Meanwhile, BDO Rampal stressed the need to encourage organizations involved in

the Vocal for Local campaign.

At the end of the program, the Sadar and Chhanbe MLAs and

officials planted shady trees in the block premises. Medical Officer-in-Charge

Dr. Subhash Singh, Dr. Ratnesh Tiwari, Administrator Ghulam Rasool, and others

were present at the workshop. Due to a lack of publicity, the attendance of

Panchayat representatives was relatively low.
