Guwahati, 01 August (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said that Assam Police has apprehended 14 alleged infiltrators and initiated legal action against them. However, he did not disclose the identities of those detained, the locations of the operation, or the specific action taken.

In a post on social media platform X, the Chief Minister said that the state remains vigilant against attempts by infiltrators to enter Assam. He stated that whenever such attempts are made, security agencies act promptly to foil them.

Assam Police has apprehended 14 such infiltrators and taken appropriate action against them. Assam remains alert, Sarma said.

The announcement comes amid the state government's continued drive against illegal immigration and suspected foreign nationals. Earlier, on July 30, the Chief Minister had also informed that Assam Police had apprehended 18 alleged infiltrators during a similar operation.

According to information recently shared by the Assam government in the Assembly, around 2,100 illegal foreigners have been deported, pushed back, or repatriated from the state over the past 10 years. Of these, 2,023 were reportedly Bangladeshi nationals.-----------
