Guwahati, 01 August (HS): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday launched Arunodoi 3.0, the third phase of the state's flagship women-centric financial assistance scheme, extending monthly support to more than 3.7 million women across the state.

Speaking at the launch event held at Damodar Dev International Auditorium in Panjabari, the Chief Minister said the revival of Arunodoi was the first major budget promise fulfilled after the BJP-led coalition returned to power in May. He added that the latest version of the scheme offers beneficiaries greater convenience and more options while further strengthening its delivery mechanism.

Sarma announced that Aadhaar-based verification has been introduced to ensure financial assistance reaches only genuine beneficiaries and to eliminate duplicate entries. He also said that dedicated Arunodoi Sarathis will be appointed in every Assembly constituency to assist beneficiaries with enrolment, grievance redressal and other services.

The Chief Minister further revealed plans to gradually expand the scheme and increase the financial assistance. Beneficiaries will also be able to avail interest-free loans against their annual Arunodoi entitlement, with repayments adjusted through future monthly assistance. Those opting for bank loans will also have the repayment deducted from their monthly benefits.

Reaffirming the government's commitment, Sarma said the objective is to make Arunodoi more accessible, responsive and empowering for every eligible family in Assam.

Several ministers, MLAs and public representatives attended the launch ceremony.---------
