Bhubaneswar, 01 August (H.S.): Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place for President Droupadi Murmu’s three-day visit to Odisha from August 3 to 5, with around 40 platoons of police personnel to be deployed across Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, Police Commissioner Dr. Suresh Dev Datta Singh said on Saturday.

Addressing the media, the Commissioner informed that the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate has devised a comprehensive multi-layered security plan covering all event venues, transit routes, and key installations to ensure a smooth and incident-free visit.

Adequate security personnel will be stationed at key locations, including Biju Patnaik International Airport and Bhubaneswar railway station, along with other sensitive points under the Commissionerate’s jurisdiction. Stringent security measures will also be enforced along the routes connecting the airport, railway station, and designated programme venues.

“Officers of Superintendent of Police (SP) rank will supervise security arrangements at all venues and along the designated routes, while Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP)-rank officers will manage traffic regulation and route planning. Senior officers will remain deployed at the airport and railway station to closely monitor the President’s movement,” Singh said.

He further stated that he would personally oversee the overall security framework to ensure its effectiveness. “A robust, multi-layered security shield has been designed to guarantee foolproof arrangements during the President’s visit,” he added.

According to police officials, traffic regulation and route management plans have been prepared in advance to facilitate the President’s movement while minimising inconvenience to the general public.

President Murmu is scheduled to participate in several official engagements in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack during her visit. On August 4, she will travel by train from Bhubaneswar to Brahmapur as part of her itinerary.
