Guwahati, 09 July (HS): A youth was allegedly beaten to death in a brutal attack near Manasa Hotel in the Kamakhya area of Guwahati on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Rupam Das. According to reports, the accused, Rahul Pathak, allegedly assaulted Das repeatedly, leading to his death. Locals claimed that Pathak is a drug addict.

Reports further alleged that Rahul Pathak had earlier been sent to jail in connection with a murder case, raising concerns over his criminal background. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.----------
