New Delhi, 09 July (H.S.): The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released the findings of its mobile network quality assessment conducted across Barmer, Balotra, Pachpadra, and surrounding areas in Rajasthan. The report found that Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel delivered the strongest overall performance, while Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Vodafone Idea (Vi) exhibited deficiencies in network coverage and call quality.
TRAI stated that the assessment, conducted in June, covered a distance of 350.3 kilometres and included seven major hotspot locations. The evaluation measured key performance indicators such as network coverage, call drop rate, call setup success rate, and data download and upload speeds.
According to the report, Jio and Airtel recorded the best performance in terms of network coverage, with the fewest coverage gaps among all service providers.
In the call drop assessment, Airtel registered zero call drops across 255 successful voice calls, while Jio recorded only two call drops out of 260 successful calls. In comparison, BSNL registered eight call drops and Vodafone Idea recorded seven.
Jio emerged as the fastest operator in terms of average download speed, recording 228.12 Mbps. Airtel followed with an average download speed of 145.06 Mbps. Vodafone Idea achieved an average of 22.40 Mbps, while BSNL recorded 8.11 Mbps.
For upload speeds, Airtel ranked first with an average of 24.57 Mbps, followed closely by Jio at 22.28 Mbps. Vodafone Idea recorded an average upload speed of 10.99 Mbps, while BSNL registered 3.60 Mbps.
According to TRAI, the drive tests were conducted across Barmer, Ramsar, Baytoo, Tilwara, Balotra, Jerla, Pachpadra, and nearby locations. The authority said the objective of such assessments is to provide consumers with an accurate picture of the actual quality of mobile services while encouraging telecom operators to enhance their network performance and service standards.
