Guwahati, 09 July (HS): Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Ranjit Kumar Das on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting at the Assembly Secretariat to review the proposed Assam Legislative Assembly complex and legislators' residential quarters to be constructed in Dibrugarh.

The meeting began with a detailed presentation by the Public Works (Building) Department on the master plan of the proposed complex. During the discussion, the Speaker suggested several modifications to ensure the project meets future requirements and develops into a comprehensive legislative campus.

Das recommended incorporating facilities such as the Assembly Secretariat building, official residences for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, accommodation for MLAs, and residential quarters for Assembly Secretariat employees. He also directed senior officials of the department to submit the proposed revisions to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for consideration.

The meeting was attended by Special Commissioner and Special Secretary of the Public Works (Building) Department Raj Chakraborty, Chief Engineer Mahendra Mohan Das, Assam Legislative Assembly Secretary Rajiv Bhattacharya, Additional Secretary Indrajit Majumdar and other senior officials of the department.---------
