Melbourne/New Delhi, 09 July (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and former Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison in Melbourne, reaffirming the close and enduring partnership between India and Australia.

In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi said, It was a great pleasure to meet Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and former Prime Minister Scott Morrison in Melbourne. It is always wonderful to meet Scott Morrison. We had very productive discussions on further strengthening the India–Australia friendship and expanding bilateral cooperation.

The meeting underscored the shared commitment of both countries to deepen their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and further enhance cooperation across a wide range of sectors.

It may be recalled that Prime Minister Modi has been on a three-nation tour covering Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand since July 6.

Before departing on the visit, the Prime Minister had said that his tour of Indonesia, Australia, and subsequently New Zealand would further strengthen India's Act East Policy, the MAHASAGAR Vision, and the country's commitment to a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific.
