Guwahati, 09 July (HS): Assam MLA Manab Deka on Thursday called for a tougher approach against fake currency racketeers, saying conventional action has failed to deter the illegal trade. MLA Deka was replying to a question to the journalists after attending the Assam assembly session on Thursday.
He said authorities must adopt a different strategy to break the backbone of counterfeit currency networks, warning that offenders often secure bail and return to the same criminal activities.
Deka stressed that stricter and more effective measures are essential to curb the circulation of fake currency and dismantle the networks behind the racket.----------
