Melbourne/Delhi, 09 July (H.S.):

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday welcomed AustralianSuper's additional investment of A$500 million in India's National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF), describing it as a strong reflection of growing global investor confidence in India's economic progress and ongoing structural reforms.

In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi said the fresh investment by AustralianSuper underscores the world's confidence in India's growth story. He added that the commitment also highlights the vast investment opportunities emerging from India's rapidly transforming economy.

The investment announcement was made during the Australia–India Annual Leaders' Summit held in Melbourne.

Earlier in the day, AustralianSuper Chief Executive Officer Paul Schroder announced the additional investment of A$500 million. Following this commitment, AustralianSuper's total investment across all asset classes in India has increased to A$3.3 billion.

Established in 2015, the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) was created to attract long-term institutional investment into India's infrastructure sector. Before this latest commitment, AustralianSuper had already invested approximately A$2.8 billion across India's infrastructure, equity, and private markets.

The latest investment further strengthens economic and investment ties between India and Australia and reinforces international confidence in India's long-term growth prospects and infrastructure development.
