
Guwahati, 09 July (HS): Acting on specific source information, a team from Hatigaon Police Station carried out a raid at Arundoy Path near Mini Taj Mahal in Hatigaon and seized 47.38 kg of ganja, arresting three alleged drug peddlers.
Police first searched a rented room where Asminur Mia (24) of Barpeta and Rustom Ali (56) of Darrang were staying. The search, conducted in the presence of independent witnesses and following all legal formalities under the NDPS Act, led to the recovery of 45.8 kg of ganja along with two mobile phones.
During interrogation, the duo allegedly revealed that the contraband had been supplied by Aktar Ali, who runs a small shop near Beharbari Chariali flyover in Guwahati.
Based on their disclosure, police conducted another search at Aktar Ali's shop, where 1.58 kg of ganja was recovered and seized. Aktar Ali, a resident of Kalimandir Path, Beharbari under Basistha Police Station, was also arrested.
With the latest recovery, the total quantity of ganja seized in the operation stands at 47.38 kg. All three accused have been taken into custody, and legal proceedings under the NDPS Act have been initiated.--------------
