
Pune, 09 July (HS): A total of 1,137 residents and tourists of Mawal tehsil in
Pune district stranded in floods and landslides were rescued by the district
administration. Five people, however, died in the flood. Several houses
collapsed and villagers lost cattle and crops washed away.

Surendra Navle and Tehsildar Vikram Deshmukh inspected the rescue operations initiated
through the National Disaster Response Force, municipal teams from Pune,
Lonavala, and Wadgaon. Anilam Lovers’ Organisations also cooperated with the
official machinery.
Three
people died in landslide in Patan village on July 6. One person was buried as
slush entered his house. In a Zilla Parishad schools and rescue centre in
Sajjangadh, 305 villages from 56 families were accommodated. Several villages
from Bhaje were accommodated in different rescue centre.
A villages from Nigde village was swept away
in flood and died, while 97 tourists from Malvali guest houses were rescued.
Slush
from roads and several houses is being removed. Losses suffered by villages is
being surveyed.
