Kolkata, 07 July (H.S.) : The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Tuesday expressed deep grief over the death of a 12-year-old girl in West Bengal's Baruipur and called for a swift, impartial, transparent, and time-bound investigation into the case, along with strict legal action against those found guilty.

In a statement, the student organisation described the incident as deeply distressing and said it had raised serious concerns about the safety and security of women and children. ABVP expressed its condolences to the victim's family and said it stood in solidarity with them during this difficult time.

The organisation stated that crimes against children constitute a direct assault on humanity and the rule of law. It stressed that such cases require not only public condemnation but also prompt, fair, and effective action by investigating agencies and the administration. It added that justice should not be delayed and that the investigation must remain transparent and evidence-based.

ABVP said that, as the investigation is ongoing, every individual found directly or indirectly involved on the basis of credible evidence and due legal process should be brought to justice. It also emphasised that no one should receive protection because of political influence, social status, or any other form of pressure, while ensuring that no innocent person is falsely implicated.

The organisation further called for the collection of all available evidence, scientific and forensic examination, protection of witnesses, and an investigation free from external interference. It urged authorities to take strict legal action against anyone attempting to obstruct the probe, suppress evidence, or shield those responsible.

ABVP also demanded that the victim's family be provided with security, legal assistance, psychological counselling, and other institutional support. It urged the administration to ensure the family is protected from any form of intimidation, harassment, or pressure until the judicial process is completed.

Appealing to the public, the organisation urged people to refrain from spreading rumours, misinformation, or unverified claims that could hamper the investigation or create social tension. It said the incident highlighted the need for stronger policing, greater public awareness, and a transparent and accountable criminal justice system to address crimes against women and children.

ABVP State Secretary Neelkantha Bhattacharya reaffirmed the organisation's commitment to justice, the rule of law, and the protection of every citizen's dignity. He urged the administration to ensure a fearless, impartial, and comprehensive investigation so that the truth emerges and every person found guilty is brought to justice in accordance with the law.
