
Hooghly, 05 July (H.S.): West Bengal Minister Sumana Sarkar on Sunday held a courtesy meeting with the Mahant of the Vrindaban Chandra Temple to review preparations for the historic Guptipara Rath Yatra. The meeting focused on ensuring that the annual festival is conducted in a safe, well-organised, and grand manner.
During the meeting, the minister said special emphasis was laid on the transparent and proper utilisation of the Rs. 5 lakh grant provided by the state government and the Chief Minister for the organisation of the Rath Yatra. She said the financial assistance would be used to further improve the overall arrangements for the festival.
The discussions also covered key issues such as the safety and security of devotees and visitors, maintenance of law and order, crowd management, and the provision of essential public amenities during the festival.
Speaking after the meeting, Sumana Sarkar said that the historic Guptipara Rath Yatra is not merely a religious festival but also an important part of Bengal's rich cultural heritage. She expressed confidence that, with the cooperation of the administration, the temple authorities, and local residents, this year's Rath Yatra would be conducted in a more orderly, secure, and successful manner than ever before.
