New Delhi, 05 July (H.S.): Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who became the youngest player to make his international debut for India during the second T20I against England, has expressed gratitude for the love and support he received following his first appearance in international cricket. He said representing the country is a matter of immense pride and pledged to always give his best for the team.

Sooryavanshi shared an emotional message on social media after his debut. In an Instagram Story, the young cricketer wrote, I am overwhelmed by the countless messages I have received. Thank you to all my well-wishers and seniors for your constant love and support. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to represent my country and will always strive to give my best for my team. Thank you all for everything.

At the age of 15 years and 99 days, Sooryavanshi became the youngest player to make an international debut for India, surpassing the long-standing record of legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar. Tendulkar made his international debut against Pakistan in 1989 at the age of 16 years and 205 days.

In the second T20I played in Manchester, India posted 190 for seven after electing to bat first. Making his debut, Sooryavanshi scored 14 runs off 10 balls, including two sixes. Ishan Kishan contributed 49 off 40 balls, Abhishek Sharma scored 43 from 24 deliveries, Shreyas Iyer made 37 off 22 balls, while Tilak Varma remained unbeaten on 24 from 11 balls.

Chasing a target of 191, England got off to a disastrous start as Phil Salt and Jos Buttler were both dismissed without scoring. Captain Harry Brook then steadied the innings with a quickfire 39 off 15 balls. Tom Banton added 39 from 32 deliveries, while Jacob Bethell remained unbeaten on 76 off 46 balls to guide England to victory in 19 overs.

With the win, England took a 1-0 lead in the five-match T20I series after the opening match was washed out due to rain.
