The bereaved family accused doctors of failing to provide timely treatment and demanded strict administrative action against those responsible.
According to reports, Tamasi Pal, the younger daughter of Achintya Kumar Pal, a resident of Uttar Badalkona in Ward No. 10 of Arambagh Municipality, was bitten by a venomous snake on her leg on Saturday night. She was immediately taken to Arambagh Prafulla Chandra Medical College and Hospital by her elder sister, where she was admitted for treatment.
Tamasi died during treatment on Sunday morning. Following her death, angry family members and local residents gathered at the hospital, leading to a tense situation on the premises.
The victim's father, Achintya Kumar Pal, alleged that his daughter did not receive proper medical attention throughout the night, which resulted in her death.
My daughter died because of medical negligence. The three doctors whose negligence led to her death must face strict administrative action, he said.
In an emotional statement, Pal added, My elder daughter is studying medicine, and my younger daughter also dreamed of becoming a doctor. Ironically, it was the doctors who took away her life.
