
Eluru, July 5 (HS): Four persons, including three women and a man, were killed after being run over by the Cherlapally-Shalimar Special Train near Chebrolu Railway Station in Unguturu mandal of Eluru district on Saturday night.
According to the Government Railway Police (GRP), the victims died on the spot after being hit by Train No. 08046.
Police personnel from the Tadepalligudem GRP reached the spot soon after receiving information and shifted the bodies for further procedures.
During the preliminary investigation, police recovered an ATM card in the name of Sheikh Haseena from one of the deceased women. An RTC parking receipt issued by the Tadepalligudem RTC Depot was also found on another victim, besides two damaged mobile phones recovered from the scene.
Based on initial findings, police suspect the incident may be a case of suicide. However, the identities of all the deceased are yet to be established.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.
