
Guwahati, 04 July (HS): A serious case of alleged medical negligence has surfaced at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where a nurse reportedly administered an injection meant for another patient, triggering concern over patient safety at the state's premier government hospital.
The incident has raised serious questions over the standard of care and supervision at GMCH. Family members and attendants expressed outrage, alleging gross negligence in the handling of patients and demanding accountability from the hospital authorities.
Reacting to the incident, GMCH Superintendent Dr. Devajit Choudhury acknowledged the matter and said the hospital has taken note of the incident. He stated that an inquiry has been initiated and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings.
The incident has once again brought the spotlight on patient safety protocols and the need for stricter monitoring to prevent such lapses in government healthcare institutions.------------
