
Minister Kapil Dev Agarwal instructs qualitative improvement
of ITI, Udyam Mela, Mega Job Fair and industry participation
Lucknow, 04 July (HS): With the aim of accelerating the goal
of making Uttar Pradesh a one trillion dollar economy, a departmental review
meeting was held at the Uttar Pradesh Secretariat under the chairmanship of
Kapil Dev Agarwal, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Department of
Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. In the meeting,
many important decisions were taken after detailed review on various points of
skill development, vocational education, employment generation and preparation
of human resources as per the requirements of industries.
The meeting reviewed the progress of the Kaushal Connect
Cell. Progress in establishing effective coordination between industries and
youth was discussed. Expressing concern over the low pass percentage in the
state's government industrial training institutes, Minister of State Kapil Dev
Agarwal directed the Training Directorate to hold a detailed review meeting
with the principals and joint directors to identify the problems, prepare a
corrective action plan, and provide a detailed report within 15 days.
The proposal to organize an Enterprise Fair at
the state's nodal government ITI institutions was also discussed in detail. It
was suggested that the program be launched centrally and that the fair be held
on the same day at all nodal ITI institutions. Instructions were also given to
ensure the active participation of career counselors in the fair. Deloitte was
tasked with developing a detailed standard operating procedure for the
Enterprise Fair.
Special emphasis was also placed on strengthening
partnerships with industries in the meeting. Instructions were given to
finalize the proposed MoU with Adani Skills soon, so that more opportunities
for industry-based training and employment can be made available to the youth.
While giving instructions to make the ITI admission campaign more effective,
the Minister said that by running special awareness campaigns in schools,
meritorious students should be motivated towards vocational education and skill
training and wide publicity should be ensured about employment and career
opportunities.
The meeting also discussed future-oriented skill development
and youth empowerment programs in collaboration with 1M1B. Furthermore, the
Training Directorate was directed to continuously monitor the performance of
ITI institutions by holding regular review meetings at all levels and to issue
notices to low-performing ITI institutions. To improve the quality of training,
departmental officials also emphasized regular inspections of ITI institutions,
review of workshops and machinery, and direct communication with students.
At the meeting, the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission
was directed to provide updated details on the offer-to-joining ratio of students
under the Mega Job Fair. Furthermore, data from regular ITI industrial visits,
a list of participating organizations in the CSR Conclave, and details of
remaining vacant positions at the Mega Job Fair should be shared with Deloitte
to ensure follow-up action.
In the meeting, special emphasis was laid on making Uttar
Pradesh the leading skill state of the country by integrating skill
development, industry participation, quality training and employment
generation, so that the effective role of the skill development sector can be
ensured in achieving the target of one trillion dollar economy. Senior
officials of the department including representatives of Deloitte participated
in the meeting.
