New Delhi, 31 July (H.S.): The Supreme Court on Friday stayed the arrest of former Tamil Nadu minister V. Senthil Balaji in a case related to alleged irregularities in the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC). The order was passed by a bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant.

The Supreme Court directed Balaji to cooperate with the investigation and submit his passport before the trial court. The court also instructed him not to influence witnesses or tamper with evidence during the proceedings.

Earlier, the Madras High Court had dismissed Senthil Balaji’s petition seeking relief in the matter.
